After working on a traditional style website for my
350z site I decided to put together a NSX blog site to showcase my latest project. This site will be updated more frequently, and I will highlight the build. The 350z site is now archived and will no longer be updated.
First of all, thanks to Mackin for working with me on these one-off wheels. I apologize for the delay in these pics, as the tires were on back order. I still need to order the center caps. For those who want my advans, don’t PM me… I’m gonna keep them and swap between wheels.
Wheel: Volk TE37 (Formula Silver- only set in country in this fitment) Wheel Sizes: 18×7.5 (offset: +30) and 19.9.5 (offset: +34) Tires: Toyo TR1 205/35/18, and 255/30/19 Spacers: Front: 5mm spacer, Rear: 10mm spacer Adjusted offsets: With spacers, It’s +25 in the front and +24 in the rear.
No rubbing whatsoever and clears BBK.Front clears by 5mm or so, rear about 2mm.
I attempted to do a proper photoshoot now that the nsx is pretty much “done” for the year. I only got to do this rig shot before it started raining. I usually like to have an “assistant” for these type of shoots for safety, luckily I didn’t end up destroying the car. lol….
FEEL’S Honda Twincanis a legendary Honda tuning shop. They have been building and servicing Hondas for 24 years out of its Saitama-based facilities. The Japanese super-tuner offers just about anything imaginable for a number of popular VTEC engines, including the B-, C-, F-, and K-series, as well as upgrades ranging from carbon-fiber body kits to radiators and exhaust systems for Civic, Integra, S2000, and NSX chassis dating back to the mid-’80s. The range of FEEL’S products might surprise you and is far more extensive than its rivals. Its product line includes everything from lightweight batteries, steel braided brake lines, brake pads, gauge cluster assemblies, and a number of other parts you might not normally expect from a company that’s still happy to take on jobs as small as a simple oil change. If you find yourself near Saitama, be sure to check them out. With FEEL’S parts at such a premium here in the states, it’s almost an easier way to get your hands on some (Source: Honda Tuning). Here is a new snazzy oil cap courtesy of Feel’s.
Met up with a local guy Bespoke Auto Interiors last week and he hooked up my nardi wheel. This is the 330mm deep corn nardi wheel. As you steering wheel whores know, the wheel normally comes with red stitching, but I wanted none of that. This was all done by hand. A few quick pics.
Added this new rear strut tower by STMPO. Color matched imola orange, it is a one piece design without adjustments or brackets, crafted by hand using 4130 1 1/2 ” .065 wall chromoly tubing ..aka – F1 race spec standards. The brace is also tig welded with ER 308L stainless steel rod for strength. For more info, check out www.stmpo.com
Hit up Touge Factory today and picked up a few sets of lug nuts. Pricing was so sweet, I decided to get a spare set! Just kidding… 12×1.5 for myself, and a Nissan spec 12×1.25 for my buddy Ron. The burnt titanium finish should tie in nicely with my exhaust tips. Excuse the rust in the second pic, BBK to be installed next week.
These just arrived today. This is the only Formula Silver finish (in NSX fitment) in the country. This finish was first introduced with the Volk G2′s. Sizes: 18×7.5 (+30) (front) & 19×9.5 (+34) (rear). Plan on going with a 5mm spacer in the rear to essentially be at +29. I found that +29 on a 9.5″ width wheel should give me a very flush setup.
Most of the aftermarket intakes available for the NSX offer little to no performance gains. In fact, a few out there actually degrade performance…a testament to Honda engineering. With this in mind, I decided to replace the filter and keep things as is. But why not get my style on? So I picked up this snazzy light-weight (dry) carbon fiber air box lid from Comptech.
These are probably not worth the price, but I wanted a nice way to finish off the new wheels. Advan has traditionally never released centercaps with their wheels; but due to increased popularity on the street, they have released these new caps in 2009. This is the Low type. Thanks to the boys at Z1 Performance for hooking me up.
Here is a test shot with some new cheap flashes. Used Canon EF: 24-70mm f/2.8 L, two Vivitar 285 HV, Blazzeo RF Speedlites Trigger and Receivers.

For the hell of it, I decided to take a pic of my Advan RS’s. I used a Canon EF: 24-70mm f/2.8 L, and one Vivitar Flash (off camera). The picture is comprised of two layers due to the body of the car looking too blown out.
New Advan RS Teaser. Offsets: 17×8 et37 (f) and 18×10 et35 (r). I used a 3mm spacer in front and 5mm in rear. This essentially changed the offsets to +34 and +30 respectively. Car is a bit damp from driving in the rain. First time with these tires (wheels/tires used), handled well. Specs, 215/40/17 and 265/35/18. I typically like to run a bit lower profile but what ya gonna do with a used setup?
Got the VRH installed awhile ago. Thanks to Ravi from Umbrella Auto Design for hooking me up. The Umbrella Auto Design electric piston set is a patented and designed to raise or lower any vehicle equipped with a coilover suspension system at the push of a button. This system has been designed to be plug and play(direct bolt in) and requires no modifications to the vehicle chassis. Thanks again to Jeremy for editing and taping this vid.
Super Cars Saturday’s was this past weekend in Glenview, IL. Here is a shot I took at the meet. From an enthusiast standpoint, meets are a great to see a variety of cars. From a photographer’s prospective, you have no control on weather, people, light, etc. Click here for the larger version of this shot.
Here is a quick pic from this past weekend’s meet @ GRD (Villa Park, IL). I really liked the BBS LM wheels that my buddy John selected for his GTR. The red centercaps work really well. My NSX is intentionally out-of-focus to highlight the BBS wheels.
In 1999, a special Zanardi edition NSX was sold in the United States. With only 50 of these ever sold, it is easily the most coveted NSX to date. The signature series NSX takes its name from two-time CART open-wheel racing championship driver, Alex Zanardi. This shift knob was specially made for the Zanardi edition NSX. It’s weighted, and a much improved shift feel compared to the stock shift knob.
A feature on the new 2002 NA2 NSX-R in Japan is a unique mesh shift boot complete with carbon fiber trim. This piece replaced the factory shift boot and console trim piece.
Just a small engine dress up part. This is a Carbon Fiber Manifold Plate by Science of Speed.
I added a rear window garnish to replace the OEM version. The Rear Window Garnish (RWG) is made of carbon fiber and modified by Downforce (DF) to take advantage of the car’s air flow during high speeds. DF raised the vent by an unnoticeable 3/4″ in height the vent can catch more air to cool the engine bay off.
This is the one of the sweetest sounding exhaust notes you will ever hear. This exhaust is stainless steel with factory issued titanium burnt single tip. Note is spectacular, a high pitched Formula One sound. Not many available in the US, I was lucky to snag one of these up. The 5.1 is no longer being produced.
This may have been my first shot with my 40d. I found this in my archives, Fully Auto mode! haha! You can see the outline of the rear diffuser in this pic.
Here is the new Works Bell “Team Orange” Steering Wheel with matching Quick Release Hub and the Splash shorty hub. Although their are cheaper options available, Works Bell owns the patent on the QR. Why get a replica of something on a safety item? All the other QR options on the market are knock offs of Works Bell.
Now that the weather is picking up, means more photoshoots! Here is a recent pic using my Canon 40d. Processing was completed using Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop.
