This is why dubs don't belong on any sports car...
they are too heavy to be used for performance applications (like sports cars such as the Z)...

Actually the following Supercars all sport 20" or larger wheels from the factory:

There's a difference between "dubs" and 20+ inch sport wheels. Obviously a 5Zigen, Volk, or Rays 20" wheel will weight less than some big gaudy 20" chrome wheel. And sadly, I have seen wheels of that sort on Z32s and Z33s.

I think I saw a Z on my350z.com that had a veilside v3 kit on it with spinners. It was for sale at some dealership. It was hideous.

dub = 20"
Chrome or not
To your point though, the ones in the video are likely 28"s.

That was great. Those things weight so much more then a 20" sport wheel though. All that rotation mass was a sure bet to break a axle or something. The diff. Must of been screaming too.

+1 for sure...those are way bigger than 20's, and stock olds axles are surely pretty flimsy

To be technical, yes, the term refers to 20" wheels... but when was the last time you heard the owner of a sports car with some lightweight sport wheels say he had "dubs" on his car? The term is typically reserved for the heavy, gaudy wheels that belong on SUVs, hence why I used it.
But regardless of terminology, I hope we can agree that wheels of that sort don't belong in performance applications.
