Default Freshly Resurfaced/Cut!!

Just got my flywheel resurfaced/cut, and it turned out really well!. I know some members were confused on if it was possible and it sure is. I paid only $50 to get it cut at Midway Trunk Auto on 87th and okeyto in hickory hills, and it took about half an hour. Now it will be ready to be put on with my OEM exedy clutch on monday at ProjectX!

not sure about the VG, cant recall... but VQ flywheels are 2 piece, sorta like a clutch disk... sprung in the center. for sure they can be machined, but i can see why people would think not.

VG's are one piece. If they made you buy a new flywheel every time you did a clutch job I think more people would drive auto's.

Man $50 for flywheel resurface? I hate living in this area where it's $100 per hour. At least they did a nice job from the looks of the pic.

There was a thread about it where im pretty sure if i remember correctly even larry said he wasnt to sure if its possible to resurface a dual mass flywheel, even the shop that I did it at was like "uhh wtf" untill it worked.

Please make sure it was done correctly! Unless they have a proper machine for double mass flywheels you are playing with fire. I had an OEM flywheel machined and they took off too much material which caused the clutch to catch very very low. They didn't do this intentionally, it's because of the double mass design...it's impossible to properly hold down the flywheel unless you have a special machine, if you don't, the extra vibration takes off too much material.

Nothing is impossible to machine. There just aren't many places locally who can do a dual mass flywheel. As Sap said, he had his done, and now there are issues. If yours turns out great, then thats awesome and we will start referring a lot of people to them.
