Default October 2009 Car of the Month - Twotonicnite

ChicagoZ.com :What got you hooked to the 350Z that you ended up purchasing it?

Twotonicnite :Well my first Z was an 86 N/A that was a daily driver. After that I owned a 91 TT for a number of years which I really loved. About a year after the 350 came out I decided I was tired of wrenching on the Z32 so often and wanted something newer. My incredible enjoyment of both of my previous Zs convinced me to try the 350. After a test drive, I was really hooked. I ended up purchasing the 2003 350z in the summer of 04. It had 8K miles so it was practically new. I still ended up hanging on to my 91 for about a year and half after that.

ChicagoZ.com :What action does your 350Z mostly see? drag, autox, road race, show car, weekend car, and/or daily driver...

Twotonicnite :Primarily my Z is a weekend toy (I just hit 19K miles). I spend a large portion of my workday driving a Toyota Tundra around the city and burbs so it's a welcome break to enjoy the Z on my days off.

I usually enter a couple of shows a year more for the ChicagoZ camaraderie and to see all the other cars than anything else.

    ChicagoZ.com :Any performance specs? 1/4 mile@mph, whp/wtorq, track times...

Twotonicnite :I get asked this question often and the people who ask are often suprised by my response:
I've never run the car in the 1/4.
    I've never had it dynoed.
It has been on a track once (08 MW Z fest @ Autobahn) and that was only for touring.

The numbers aren't that important to me. What is important is that it handles great and is plenty fast for my spirited driving on the rural roads near home.

That being said, I would like to do some road course runs sometime in the future.

ChicagoZ.com :What other modifications are you planning on doing to the 350Z, if any? Whether it's performance, handling, appearance, and/or sound system....

Twotonicnite :(Not necessarily in order of priority)
    Upgrade S/C to stage 3
    Coilovers
    BBK
Possibly doing something different with the bodykit in whole or part
    Dressing the engine bay

It's a great looking car. Every time I see a hood like that now, only one thing pops into my head. "CHARGED"
