ChicagoZ.com :What got you hooked to the 300ZX that you ended up purchasing it?
zgene4 :I was in high school when the 90 300ZX was first introduced and fell in love with the car then. It wasn't until I had my first real job out of college that I bought one. Insurance rates for a single male, under 25 on a turbo car were insane, so I bought a pearl white 93 2+2. I had that car for about 6 years and I sold it for my 92TT that I found in Delaware.
ChicagoZ.com :What action does your 300ZX mostly see? drag, autox, road race, show car, weekend car, and/or daily driver...
zgene4 :I'm proud to say my Z is a summer weekend garage queen. I do try and take one or two long road trips during the summer. Its a pleasure to drive and has the most leg room of any car I've driven. (I'm 6'8") I've recently been bitten by the track bug, but prefer to abuse my Subaru rather than my pride and joy. I also like to hit the highways around the downtown area late at night when the traffic dies off. Lower wacker used to be a favorite before they cleaned it up, back when no one be cought dead down there at night and the "enthusiast" could make a few uninterrupted runs w/o hassel from the man.
ChicagoZ.com :Any performance specs? 1/4 mile@mph, whp/wtorq, track times...
zgene4 :I dynoed a couple of years back at SP and made about 360rwhp/360rwtq on a lower boost setting. The car has since had a boost leak fixed and I run a little more boost. Never taken it to the strip, but I'm rarely passed.
ChicagoZ.com :What other modifications are you planning on doing to the 300ZX, if any? Whether it's performance, handling, appearance, and/or sound system....
zgene4 :After some recent data posted on dual intakes performance gains with stock turbos, I might install a set of those. I've got a set of Nismo 740cc injectors and a set of 300* fuel rails to be installed as well. Just haven't had the time. I've also got a OEM replica spoiler to replace the original before it starts to rot like they all eventually do. Other than that, the audio system has been perfected and I just try and maintain the condition of the interior to be as stock as possible.
